Mm, very eventful day today! Today was my first day visiting Jamie and Morgan at their university! After I arrived, Jamie and I had lunch in one of the many cafeterias on campus and afterward I got the grand tour around the area. When we returned to the dorm, Jamie had the fantastic idea of taking a quick road trip to Indianapolis, Indiana!
Even though I’ve lived in the area for about three years, I’ve never been to “Indy!” Despite the locals always claiming that there’s nothing to do there, I found it very enjoyable! Here’s a 5-second video of a really cool LED display on one of the crosswalks. While we were there Jamie, Morgan, and I hit up a lot of small boutiques including a very quaint record store called LUNA Music.
Afterward we hit the Circle Centre Mall in the heart of the city. I didn’t do much shopping, however. I’ve really gotta be in the shopping “mood.”
From the mall we stopped by a Starbucks for a quick coffee fix. I ordered my favorite: a caffe mocha. We sat around people-watching and taking funny pictures. From Starbucks we killed some time at a large Borders bookstore!
To end the evening, we went to Broad Ripple Avenue to check out some small boutiques and we contemplated visiting a hookah bar. We decided against it considering the late hour and shadiness of said bar, haha. It’s on our to-do list for this summer though! Here’s a funny sign we encountered on our way to Broad Ripple:
Reverend Pimp?! Really?
All in all it was a lovely day and I look forward to returning to Indianapolis again! To end my picture-abundant post is the official Photo of the Day! It’s a piece of artwork I was particularly fond of in the record store:
Peace out! :D
Short post before bed!
Tomorrow I’ll be visiting my best friend Jamie for the weekend at her university! We’ve been planning this for months and we’re finally getting around to doing it! This’ll be my first sample of the “dorm life” so I’m kinda excited, haha. Anyway, I needed to fetch a suitcase and that involved venturing into the part of the house I most despise: the attic. It’s not that I think it’s creepy, it’s just the rickety wooden ladder I must ascend to reach the attic. Though I’ve never fallen from it (knock on wood), I still don’t trust it.
Yeah, I’m onto you, ladder of doom…
A few moments ago, I rolled over in bed, looked up toward my clock, and saw this:
Yawn. Hm…
Wait, what the?! How long have I been sleeping? When did I fall asleep? Crap! Did I do my homework for tomorrow?!
The last thing I remember is saying goodbye to my friend after she left the house around 8:30pm. She had needed some help revising her English paper and her and my mom had a lengthy discussion about how to make this Vietnamese dessert. After that I must have crawled in bed and slept for the next three hours.
This reason this really irks me so is because I’ve really let myself go lately. Actually, no. I’ve really let myself go since the semester started. I used to be a very efficient student; good with time management. Nowadays I just mull about the house, watching TV here, playing with the dog there. I keep putting off my homework until late at night but, of course, by then I’m too tired to focus. These past few weeks I’ve been waking up an hour early to get my reading done, giving me about 5 hours of sleep each night. Clearly, that’s not enough.
Before this semester started, I told myself that I would work to make it better than the last. Being efficient with time and schoolwork was a part of that plan. Starting today, I’m getting myself back on track. You see, I’m attending school with a half-tuition scholarship as long as my GPA stays above a 3.5. By living at home and keeping my grades up to keep the scholarship, I feel that it’s my duty to my family to be as less of a financial burden as possible. That’s why this is so important to me.
On a different note, here’s my Photo of the Day from yesterday, featuring Luna who has now been renamed to “Abby.”
She’s so tiny! Her little body is only a few inches off the ground! Just compare how big she is to my neighbor’s foot, haha!
Mm, back to to bed now!
